Micah 6:8 NLT
No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
God has shown us what is good and right. What he requires, what he wants from us, what he asks us to do, is to love mercy and to live with a posture of mercy towards others.
This means to be a person who seeks God, and his mercy, and then extends mercy to others. To be able to do this requires us to have an attitude of humility and an understanding that everything we have comes from God. This attitude comes from walking closely with God and listening to the prompting of His Spirit within.
Nothing can substitute for a close relationship with our heavenly Father through Christ. God wants relationship with us and has made a way for us to have relationship with him.
By accepting Christ and following him we begin that relationship and by walking humbly and closely with God, we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. In turn we better understand his will, we hear his voice more clearly and we are able to follow more closely. In this process we also, having freely received God's love, his grace and his mercy, can freely extend love, grace and mercy to others.
